Tokyo 2020: Branding Concept
Taking inspiration from the iconic Japanese flag's red "dot", Tom decided to create some alternate branding for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. The idea is simple. It takes each circle from the iconic Olympic logo, filling them in to associate with the red "dot". This helps to create a recognizable and interchangeable way to display the branding through promotional images. There is a use of static elements in the design: the "2020" is always placed in the yellow dot and a different icon of a person playing one of the Olympic sports is in the red dot.
